On Editing A Review
This is a reprint of a series of considerations originally published in 1959 by Maurice Nadeau in Les Lettres nouvelles. Founded in 1953, it was one of the leading literary journals of the postwar years. He examines in particular what a journal should and could be in the late Fifties, inspired by a letter from Gustave F!aubert to Louise Colet in which the former considered a journal meant to scare all men of letters with truth itself.
