Le Coq rouge. A « boute-feu » in Brussels
The article brings under scrutiny the threeyear history of Le Coq rouge created in Brussels in 1895 around the central figure of Georges Eekhoud. Taking its title from the expression making the red cock crow, or willingly setting a house on fire, this polemic and ideologically anarchist publication provided a forum of aesthetic and political debates in a network of eminent Belgian and French names such as Maeterlinck, Verhaeren and Gide.
