The New Spirit of Lettres cinématographiques
The asthenia of cinema has rubbed off on cinematographic criticism diverting it from its traditional function : the defence of a cinema. Only a journal can impose taste, outline problematics, decree and judge, in a word criticise. This deterioration of standards has transformed journals into information warehouses, indispensable but dull.
Nonetheless, there is hope in the form of few but sound publications which carry the banner of a new spirit in cinematographic letters.
