Gilles Fournel et Henry de Grandmaison appartiennent à une génération de poètes qui se veulent continuateurs de René-Guy Cadou pour une poésie inscrite au cœur du monde et soucieuse de préoccupations humaines. En 1955, réunissant autour d’eux de jeunes poètes partageant leur conviction que la Poésie devait être agissante, les deux amis fondent une revue poétique qu’ils intitulent Sources – la revue de la jeune poésie. Mais la guerre d’Algérie allait fracasser l’amitié entre les deux poètes : Gilles Fournel exempté de rappel sous les drapeaux, et militant poétiquement contre la guerre, Henry de Grandmaison incorporé dans le régiment d’Algérie et participant contre son gré à la répression. À son retour, ce dernier, moralement brisé, ne renoua pas avec la revue qui poursuivit sa publication quelques années encore.
Genesis of a peotic magazine : Sources
Gilles Fournel and Henry de Grandmaison belong to a generation of poets who claim to be continuators of René-Guy Cadou for a poetry inscribed at the heart of the world and involved with human concerns. In 1955, gathering around them young poets sharing their conviction that the Poetry were to be effective, the two friends found a poetic magazine which they entitled Sources – [the magazine of the young poetry]. But the war in Algeria was going to shatter the friendship between the two poets: Gilles Fournel exempted from recall under the flags, and poetically militant against the war, Henry de Grandmaison incorporated into the Algerian regiment and participating against his will to the repression. On his return, the latter morally broke did not renew with the magazine which continued its publication a few more years.
